In collaboration with Nordland kunst- og filmfagskole, the Church in Vågan and Arbeidern – we invite young and old to celebrate the Sámi National Day.

5pm Worship with the pastor in Vågan, Aina Marie Svendsen and organplayer Terje Brun,

5.45pm: The afternoon continues with socializing and various activities for children and adults

7pm: “Boat and shipbuilding of the Coastal Sami before 1800 – an important chapter in Norwegian coastal history”, lecture by Alf Ragnar Nielssen

8pm: “Sámi Blood”  – a film by Amanda Kernell
Elle Marja, a 14 year old reindeer-breeding Sámi girl who is exposed to the racism of the 1930’s at her boarding school, starts dreaming of another life. But to achieve it, she has to become someone else and break all ties with her family and culture.
