POP-UP exhibition
Hanne Einarsen & Grete Einarsen
Exhibition opening in the art store at North Norwegian Art Centre, Friday 24 October, at 6pm.
In addition to North Norwegian Art Centre's curated exhibition programme, we also invite to more spontaneous pop-up-exhibitions in our art store.
Grethe and Hanne Grete studied in the same city in the 1990s, but never met or knew each other. Years later, they shared an unusual experience — they received artwork in the mail that wasn’t theirs. Works from regional and national exhibitions meant for Grethe were mistakenly sent to Hanne Grete, and vice versa. For years, they were each other’s source of frustration, until they were both invited to participate in the same project in Bodø. At the hotel check-in, Grethe was told, “Your sister has arrived.” They met at the door — for the first time. That moment marked the beginning of a friendship and a shared artistic journey.
In this pop-up exhibition, the two artists with the same surname, Einarsen, engage in a graphic dialogue where each other's images are printed onto one another — layer upon layer. Through woodcuts, linocuts, photogravure, collage, and screen printing, they explore the relationship between humans, animals, and nature, creating a new visual language at the intersection of two artistic voices. The exhibition is a tribute to collaboration, sustainability, and reciprocity — and a poetic meeting between two expressions.
The exhibition will be on display in the art shop at the North Norwegian Art Centre until Sunday, November 16th.
